5 ways to improve your skin in 2024

I know that skincare shopping can be so confusing and it's also not just about the products that you're using on your face, it's how you treat your skin on the inside too.

If you're looking to buy new skincare products, then always go on recommendations from experts that you can trust and try to not be seduced by the marketing and look at the ingredients instead. And don't forget that you don't have to use the same brand for every skincare step.

1. Introduce a serum

Serum is so important as they help to deliver all of the active ingredients deep down to your skin. Use one day and night after cleansing and before moisturiser. Ingredients to look out for in your day serum include hyaluronic acid and vitamin c. For night serum, a retinol serum is ideal.

2. Use massage to apply your skincare

I try to have a regular massage routine and tend to do it while cleansing. I use a cleansing balm or oil for that very reason - it makes the slip better. You'll find that your face will look more lifted and glowing if you stick to a routine.

3. Be mindful of what's going in your body

Your skin is your largest organ, but the one that gets nourished last, so it's vital to keep up with your water intake.

4. Exfoliate

Aging skin doesn't renew and regenerate as quickly as younger skin, so to keep the cells turning over make sure that you have a regular exfoliating routine. I prefer liquid exfoliators to grainy physical ones as they are more gentle on your skin. Look out for acids like AHAs, glycolic and retinol. If your skin is extra sensitive try one with a lactic acid.

5. Wear SPF

You've heard it before, but it's so important. I wear SPF50 daily, especially because I live in Florida, but even so, you should wear a high factor whatever the weather to prevent premature aging and skin cancer.
